Petition to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Brussels – City Hall & the Brussels Grand- Place, Brussels 1000

As a response to the planning permission application and the change of use proposed by the new owner of the building, the Cineact Foundation wants to relaunch the petition for the preservation of the old ABC cinema.

The ABC Cinema, opened in 1972, is the last single-screen cinema built in Brussels. Closed July 3, 2013, shortly afterwards the building was put on the real estate market. In September 2014, the building was sold.

Today the architectural status of this cinema (including an auditorium of 100 seats, a balcony of 50 seats and a projection booth) and its land use designation could be endangered.

The Cineact Foundation and the undersigned call on the authorities of the City of Brussels to maintain the land use designation of the cinema at the Max A. 147-149 boulevard and to promote the maintenance of cultural activity.
